The beauty of a person lies in his/her posture: the way she walks, or touches her hair, the way he is focused or dreamy. It might be in the way he looks, or the way she watches. Eyeglasses are a part of the expression of the body, with some suggesting concentration and some projecting a softer mood.
For the JINS Design Project, we designed with the idea in mind that different typologies of frames would complement the natural expression of anybody. We’ve been building on a logic for the shapes, and attempted to create something light, without tiny details, and very transparent on the person, like air.
We’ve been building different geometries of frames; round, rectangular, elliptical and so on. Sometimes I prefer the circular ones but, on another day I would feel more attracted to the rectangular ones. Sometimes I feel a design is more feminine, but quickly realize this may be a masculine opinion. The frames are very precise, carefully balanced from every dimension. Also,
the colors offer so many possibilities.
But at the end, the design is complete when someone wears the glasses. The mood they provoke is achieved by the person who wears them.
The collection is like a spectrum, creating different kinds of atmospheres for different kinds of people.

Expressions are integrated to form “SUGATA”.
A light, minimal design with beautiful colors.

For the current project, we chose to collaborate with the brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, who are designers based in Paris. The designs produced through their dialogue have a characteristic smooth line that extends from the front to the temple. The designs are light with innovative forms and transparent on the person. Four types of frames, which fuse into the wearer’s facial expression creating the person’s “posture”, have been produced.
