JINS Design Project
What makes the most beautiful eyeglasses in the world? What kind of eyeglasses grants wearers with instinctive comfort? What significance do eyeglasses hold for people in the future? By revisiting the very definition of eyewear, and reconstructing them from their form and materials,we aim to propose eyeglasses that present value in the times to come.This project aims to design eyeglasses from their very essence.
Patricia Urquiola
HILO
Patricia Urquiola, the Milan-based key player of the design world, teams up with JINS. Patricia is originally from Spain, so is the name HILO, which means ‘thread’. Forms that flow together tracing a single line and layers of nuanced shades are combined to suit your face, naturally, and easily. And for Patricia, it was crucial that we used environmentally-aware bio materials.
Patricia Urquiola works
Born in Spain. Studied architecture and design at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and at Politecnico di Milano under the mentorship of the great Achille Castiglioni. At De Padova she worked with Vico Magistretti, another giant of design, and after serving as head of design at Lissoni and Partners, established her own studio in Milan in 2001. Art Director of Cassina since 2015, she continues to attract attention for wide-ranging collaborative projects with some of the world’s most important companies.
Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec
SUGATA
Brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec are designers based in Paris. The new JINS design produced from their dialogue is light and colorful.Frames that blend into facial expressions, forming the wearer’s “posture”. The smooth line that extends from the front to the temple is also distinctive.
Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec works
Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, French designers born in Quimper (Brittany) in 1971 and 1976 respectively, have been working together since 1999. From industrial design to craft work, from large production runs to research, from the object to public space, their creations span multiple fields of expression and have gradually entered our daily lives.
Alberto Meda
Almost organic
Alberto Meda, the grand master of the design world, has created many innovative products with an airy feel through an experimental approach based on an engineering point of view. JINS introduces its new design, which is a result of its pursuit of the relationships among the frame and temple, materials and technology.
Alberto Meda works
Born in Italy in 1945. After working as a technical manager at the interior products brand, Kartell, Meda’s designs were utilized by various companies, including Alfa Romeo Auto, Alias, Alessi, Luceplan, Olivetti and Vitra. He is based at his studio in Milan and is a major player on the global stage.
Michele De Lucchi
We are all designers of ourselves.
Michele De Lucchi, Italy’s leading architect, has reinterpreted the four typologies of eyeglasses. Introducing forms and colors to “design oneself” with emphasis on personality.
Michele De Lucchi works
Architect. He has been a protagonist of avant-garde architecture and design since the 1970s. He has designed furniture for the most known Italian and European companies. He realized architectural projects in Italy and abroad, including residential, industrial, corporate and cultural buildings. He has taken care of numerous art and design exhibitions and has planned buildings for museums. From 2004 he sculptures little wooden houses with the chain saw to create the essentiality of the architecture. Selections of his products are exhibited in the most important design museums in the world. During 2018 Michele De Lucchi is editor in chief of the new “Domus” magazine.

“all round” -focusing on the round-shape as the archetype of glasses. A diverse collection that brings out the individuality of the people who wear them.
Konstantin Grcic works
Konstantin Grcic (*1965) was trained as a cabinet maker at The John Makepeace School (Dorset, England) before studying Design at the Royal College of Art in London. He established his own office Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design (KGID) in Munich in 1991. Since then he has developed furniture, products and lighting for some of the leading companies in the design field like Cassina, Flos, Magis, Muji, Plank and Vitra. He worked on a number of significant design exhibitions and exhibition displays for renowned museums and galleries.
Jasper Morrison
New Normal
The collaboration with product designer Jasper Morrison considers designs from the smallest of details in hopes to question and redefine the ideal form of eyewear that is relevant today. What is realized is the “ultimate basic” for the future –refined eyewear with an air of simplicity that is suitable and can be worn by everyone.
Jasper Morrison works
Born in London in 1959, Morrison established his own design office "Office for Design" in the heart of London in 1986. Morrison currently provides his design work to companies around the world, including Vitra, Flos, Muji Rushi Ryohin and Marni from his office located in London, Paris and Tokyo.
